Our unique programmes are designed for families keen to explore British history and culture and understand our way of life - not to mention our humour! Throughout the programmes, we'll be helping your children build their confidence in using British English.

Programmes integrate topics from the official 'Life in the UK' exam with helpful knowledge about the UK, everyday English (not found in course books!) and practical skills.

Q:
Why take these courses?

Q:
Are there prerequisites or language requirements?
A:
Our two programmes (modules) are: Build Your Skills for 7-10 years and Extend Your Skills for 11-14 years.

Q:

A:
Yes, there is interaction among students in each class e.g. in class discussions and breakout rooms. Collaborative activities forge new connections and friendships.

Q:
Are there assignments after lessons?
A:
Yes. There will be 'follow up' tasks at the end of each day to help consolidate what has been covered each day (e.g. research, reading, writing or discussing what has been learned) which should be shared with family.
Q:
What are some of the challenges when taking online courses?
A:
Self-discipline is the most important key to success in online learning. It's important children are prepared for study, with a notebook and pencil, in a quiet space with few distractions.
Students will be asked to keep their video on at all times. Our teachers deliver 'active' lessons, so children should come ready to learn and participate!

What will children receive after completing the course successfully?

A:
Discovery Summer is regularly inspected by the British Council Accreditation UK as a guarantee of the quality of our teaching, teachers, management, resources etc. In our most recent July 2018 inspection report we are proud to have been awarded 14 'strengths' out of a possible 15, placing us in the top 2% of all English language providers in the UK.

A:
Our classes are conducted by experienced teachers with professional qualifications (e.g. CELTA, DELTA) as required by British Council Accreditation UK.
Q:
Why is there a 6-day cut off?
A:
For students to get the most out of this exciting programme, our Academic Team needs to place them in appropriate classes. To ensure optimal placement, we will be closing bookings 6 days before the course starts. Parents will be emailed at least two days before the course starts with important pre-course information and the Zoom link to the class. Be sure to book quickly so as to not miss your place!
Q:
How many students can attend per purchase?
A:
One student: one purchase. Discovery365 offers high quality online lessons. The Discover Life in the UK programme has been specifically designed for a maximum of 12 students per class. This enables students to share ideas, develop skills and build confidence in using spoken English. For this reason only one student may join each lesson from one computer/laptop. Respecting this restriction helps our teachers deliver the best classes and ensures maximum learning opportunities. All classes are recorded and strictly monitored by our Academic Team.
